Regulation and Rules
Growing Cambodia Inc (GCI) is a registered Australian charity that has supported the teaching of English in rural communities in Cambodia since 2012. We are regulated by the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission (ACNC). In 2014, we received Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status from the Australian Taxation Office so that donations to GCI are tax deductible.
GCI has adopted the model rules for an incorporated association.
Our Policies and Procedures
We have policies and procedures to govern our operations, as required by law and the ACNC. Some of our key policies are:
Privacy
We only collect and use personal information if we need it for our purposes.
Complaints
Anyone can make a complaint if they are dissatisfied and it will be handled in accordance with our grievance procedure.
A different process applies to disputes involving GCI members under our Rules.
Child Protection
We have protections in place to safeguard the children in our schools.
Code of Conduct
We have a code of conduct to ensure Committee members (and in some cases former Committee members) meet their obligations.
Conflicts of Interest
We manage any conflicts of interest. Committee members are required to make an annual declaration of conflicts each year and to declare any particular conflict at each meeting.
We also have internal processes to ensure compliance with fundraising and other relevant laws, to screen and protect our volunteers and visitors and to govern our relationships with organisations that partner with us.
Our Financial Statements
Our financial statements are presented to the Annual General Meeting each year, together with a report of the year’s activities, and then lodged with the ACNC.
